The following are the specific standard that these materials will fulfill. Standards RL 4.1, RL4.2, RL 4.3, RL 4.4, RL 4.6, RL 4.7, RI 4.1, RI 4.2, RI 4.3, RI 4.5, RF 4.4a, SL4.1 a-d, W 4.7 and W 4.9. Students need to have time to build reading confidence and learn how to use resources. Many of the students are behind in reading and have not spent much time reading chapter books. These materials would allow students to start with an easy book on a given topic and work up to a grade-level fiction and informational text. Then they will take that information and make a presentation of what they learned and the connections they have made.
