Nevada is bringing dramatic play back to our kinder classrooms! My sweet little class would love to have dramatic play materials to enjoy! At the moment we have none! This will help with communication skills, social and emotional learning, sharing, learning through play, and real life learning skills! My students come from diverse backgrounds and socioeconomic backgrounds. They are such hard workers and deserve to have new materials for the classroom. We are so excited to bring back learning through play as this will allow all modalities of learning to be addressed! The standards that will be of focus with these materials are: SL.K.1 - participate in collaborative conversations with diverse partners about Kindergarten topics and texts with peers and adults in smaller and larger groups. Students will work together and play together in dramatic play centers. SL.K.6 - speak audibly and express thoughts, feelings, and ideas clearly. Students will take turns, share and work together in the dramatic play centers which will enhance speaking and listening skills. RF.K.3 - know and apply grade level phonics and word analysis skills in deciding words - by using the alphabet puppets and alphabet tubs to enhance their understanding and mastery of letters and sounds. They also can use the alphabet tubs to begin putting Cvc words together by putting the objects together to make worlds and sound them out. The puppets can also be put together to start making and blending words. Students will also develop a greater bank of vocabulary by speaking to one another in centers and using vocabulary that is associated with the center they are at. Nevada will be mandating dramatic play next year and all of these materials will allow students to be active learners and show growth in social/emotional learning, phonemic awareness, and speaking/listening.
