Our rural elementary school was originally built in 1910. Some time later standard basketball hoops were added. These hoops cannot be lowered and makes it difficult to teach the younger students the sport and fundamentals. We are asking for four adjustable hoops for our school to better assist in teaching the younger students and allowing all 450 of our students to safely play. This will assist us to fulfil the requirements of PE 1.5.3 including competency in motor skills, movement patterns, and safety (PE 1.2.4 - 1.5.4).
During the Covid pandemic, it became even more apparent how beneficial Physical Education is to the overall education of students. In addition to the adjustable hoops, we are asking for equipment to assist in the development of all elements of movement forms (PE 1.2.1 - 1.5.1). Jump ropes and bowling pins will allow us to provide a variety of physical activities that challenge the students mentally and physically with regular activity (PE content standards 3.0) By donating to our project, you will enhance the physical education of all of our students ages 5-12. This in turn will benefit their regular education.
