Flexible seating allows students to choose their best way of learning and working. Flexible seating allows students to pick an area in the classroom that they think it is most appropriate for them to work independently or collaboratively.
Students who have a choice whether it be working on a yoga ball, or a swivel stool their engagement increases because they are in a comfortable workspace. The seating I chose is based on what my students have expressed interest in and what they think they will use to make the best learning choices.
Each seating has its own benefits, for example, if a student has the wiggles, they can use the swivel chair. Another example, if a student prefers sitting on the floor, but wants some cushion, they can take one of the cushion seats and work on the floor comfortably.
The opportunities are endless when it comes to flexible seating and I believe that I will see increased engagement from my students.
