My students are faced with extremely difficult circumstances lately and far more in need of that support to push through what they are going through.
Students often need a visual story plot to comprehend that emotions are absolutely normal. Along with having an in depth conversation with a story, pictures and real life events allow the child to feel comfortable with their own emotions. Much like the countless emotions one can experience the cart will be best utilized and conducive to organize and itemize material separately to help better analyze each one with each its own color play-doh. For example green translates to Happy. Blue would translate to Sad. Red would translate to Angry.
It also sometimes serves as an ice breaker and reading a book to help guide a student with what they are feeling.
As an educator it enhances my ability as their support system on campus as well as enhances their ability to fully grasp social emotional skills and benefit for both school and home life events.
