I want to give my students the tools to help them not only now but in the future. Working in groups is teaching skills such as communication, sharing, understanding different ideas, working together, learning how to understand people, and many more. Having tables in my classroom will make this so much easier than traditional middle school desks.
I have some students that struggle to sit in the traditional desks. I want them to feel comfortable in my classroom, and if we all are sitting at tables, they will feel more comfortable. Students learn better when they feel safe and comfortable. This will ensure that ALL students have the same tools.
