Please help me to be able to provide my students with all that they deserve. If you fund my project you will help 20 students to be able to have choice in their reading, and also see themselves in the books that they chose from. Many of my students are multicultural and many of the books that are published do not picture people or children that look like them. Studies show that students are less likely to connect and engage in reading when the reading does not depict experiences that are similar to those they have. In addition the students will be able to use pop-its to create arrays and foster a deeper understanding of multiplication.
For students who need additional social emotional or impulse control, in this project I am requesting support with two wobble stools as well as silent fidgets. Wobble stools allow the students to move their bodies. This is essential for some of my students, especially since we can no longer utilize many of the other areas of learning due to social distancing. The fidgets will allow students who need multisensory stimulation to be able to get that without distracting others from their learning.
