First graders, some of whom have never been in a school, have a lot of energy! Flexible seating allows students to better focus while their active bodies are engaged in a positive, non-disruptive manner. Each student will have the independence of choosing a seat each day that will best suit their physical energy level. Students' ability concentrate will improve as they satisfy their physical movement. This will support learning the essential first grade standards like Math 1.OA.1 and ELA RF.1.4.
Flexible seating options will provide an outlet for first graders to satisfy their physical activity requirements allowing them to successfully achieve their academic learning goals.
The iPad will allow an additional engaging learning option to engage their minds across the curriculum with District approved apps and resources. The iPad can also go home with a student excluded for COVID so they can better participate in blended distance learning.
