Realizing artistic work through interpretation and presentation is a key visual arts standard. Providing students with opportunities to embrace their creative and artistic potential as well as photograph artworks for submission, is a vital part of the art program at our high school. To build proficiency with our college and career readiness standards and be able to promote the professional presentation of artwork, I need to create an area in the art room where students can use the equipment necessary to photograph artwork. Students will learn how to properly photograph their artwork for contest submissions, to build their professional digital art portfolios needed to apply to art schools, create digital exhibitions and for the submissions of AP Art portfolios to the CollegeBoard.
The quality and lighting of a photograph that captures an artwork, can determine if a student gets into an art show, has a professional art portfolio to submit to art schools, wins an art contest at the regional or national level, or gets the highest marks for their AP Art Portfolio scores. To set up a photography station in our classroom some basic photography equipment is needed. This equipment includes a digital camera set on a tripod with a backdrop, proper lighting, and a wall mount easel to hold up artworks that will be cropped for submissions. With these materials students will be able to work with a professionalism necessary in the art fields. We are extremely grateful for the opportunity to work with Ðǿմ«Ã½ and we look forward to promoting even more student led creative talent for our community, our country and our world.
