This project is to support students with mental health needs. Couches, chairs, pillows, games, & workbooks are all tools to set up a therapy office where students can feel safe, respected, and valued. Once a student is calm, relaxed, and supported in this environment, they have a chance to open up, receive counseling and process the challenges they face.
Each tool in this project has a specific purpose and design to support students' mental health. Plunktika is fun, engaging, tactile, and builds mindfulness skills. The wheel of emotions helps students develop emotional intelligence. The couch and chair support students who are exhausted, uncomfortable, or require sensory accommodations. The workbooks provide skill building activities, mental health homework, and tangible ways to record and process symptoms and feelings. Fidgets help reduce the anxiety that comes with vulnerability and disclosure by keeping fingers busy and breathing regulated.
Social workers and therapists in schools do not have budgets or funding for projects and resources like these. As the mental health needs of our teens increase, so does the need for tools, materials, and activity based mental health support. Donations like these are essential to creating healthy students, safe schools, and life-long learners.
