Due to online classes, students heavily relied on technology for learning, most of the learning was done through video conferencing. This was difficult for most of the students. During Covid students did not do hands-on experiments and laboratory projects. The request I have made, involves the use of electronic components to build models to demonstrate students application of concepts. This will greatly enhance the students trouble shooting and problem solving skills.
The project activities are highly engaging because of the use of project base learning with hands on practice based on STEM principles.
The electronic materials will be used by students to create a model of an atom using paper circuits. Students will design 3 circuit paths to that will light up to illustrate the various subatomic particles of an atom and their location. This project will The electronic portion of the project also illustrates the flow of electron in a closed circuit.
These same materials will be used by students in Physical Science to develop models to illustrate renewable energy, from solar, wind battery power. The electronic device will be used by the students to design the electric circuit of their models. More computing power is needed to run the programs needed for the design.
HS-ESS2-6 Develop a model to describe the cycling of carbon among the hydrosphere, atmosphere, and biosphere.
HS-PS1-1 Students can use a model to identify and describe the relative charges, masses, and locations of the protons, neutrons, and electrons in an atom
HS-PS1-4 Develop a model to illustrate the release of absorption of energy from a chemical reaction.
All projects and activities are inclusive of all students regardless of ability or language proficiency.
