Graphic novels are an excellent resource for students. The images act as a scaffold for struggling readers, including English language learners. Graphic novels help students to make inferences based on the dialogue and images and can lead to more engaged and happy readers! Increased interest in reading and new, engaging opportunities to practice the comprehension strategies we learn in class will help students successfully interact with appropriate grade level text (RL.4.10).
The use of headphones will allow students to engage in personalized digital lessons focused on phonics, a necessary skill to build fluent readers. A set of classroom mice will allow students to comfortably use their Chromebooks for personalized programs and engage in activities such as researching on the web, typing essays, and engaging in interactive lessons.
