The Desert Shields Bands encompasses a Jazz Band, Wind Ensemble, Marching Band, Concert Band and Symphonic Band. We have grown significantly from 75-80 to over 340 in the Band Program. This puts us in a very unique situation of not having enough instruments to provide for everyone. Our average class size is 45 students but there is an average of less than 30 instruments available. We are seeking to provide each class with a full set of practice pads so that each student has their own instrument to use in class and at home. These practice pads will be used directly in their class periods and performances. The instruments will benefit not only the students who can use them but it can build upon the morale of the school and community as a whole. More students will be able to strengthen their musical capabilities while being able to play in a class with full instrumentation.
