The items selected will help meet NV ELASCS 7.0/8.0. Students will be able to increase early language skills necessary for classroom participation by practicing requesting, refusing, expanding utterances, using descriptive words, and answering questions, among other language skills with the wooden toys from Melissa and Doug. The color printer is my #1 request. I print picture vocabulary for students who require augmentative or alternative communication, such as PECS or CORE boards. I can print multiple copies so students can communicate at both school and home without losing them in transit. I do not have a color printer, and it makes it difficult to get access to the students. I can send these materials home, as well. The Blockaroos set is something I can divide among students and work on colors, shapes, sizes, and following directions. The wooden toys from Melissa and Doug and plastic toys from Learning Resources are easy to sanitize between sessions, providing Covid safe play. The Blockaroos can be divided among students so that they can request their own items without having to share/spread germs. Please help me get my students communicating effectively at home and school with materials that are safe in this COVID pandemic.
