I work at two different Title I schools, so my students come to school with limited resources. Additionally, my students come to my classroom for enrichment for a brief portion of the school day. Because I see students from almost every grade level for reading and math daily, I like to keep my classroom stocked with all the materials they will need for the various learning activities that we do.
Providing basic school supplies ensures that students will be ready to work the minute they step in my classroom. None of our time will be wasted searching for materials - students won't need to worry about bringing pencils, erasers, or coloring materials. This grant will enable my students to have dry erase boards and markers for collaboration which is a frequent part of our learning experiences. It will also provide me with large chart tablets that we use for recording our thinking during group discussions and projects. Students will also each be able to have their own composition notebooks that they can leave in my classroom for ongoing learning logs in reading and math.
I'm excited to see both the collaborative and independent work that my students will be able to accomplish as a result of having these supplies at their fingertips!
