Transitioning from distance learning has been a challenge as a 2nd-grade teacher. I have found myself spending a significant amount of time in front of the computer transitioning from paper activities to more digital activities, even now that we are in person. More than ever, I need to be able to spend time during my prep at my desk preparing digital materials for students who may be home or paper materials for those in person.
All of our students need visual aids to help them learn in the classroom; having a color printer will help me provide supports for all students in general education and special education in my classroom. I will be able to provide flash cards, graphic organizers, and materials for anchor charts. The items I have selected will help me develop the necessary visual aids children need in the classroom. Board games will help my students connect socially, which is something they have missed out on and we need to rethink in the classroom due to COVID.
Providing books for my students will help them meet RL 2.1, 2.2, 2.3, and 2.4. My students need access to books at their reading level that engage their interests. I have selected books, such as Hidden Figures and Weather, to cater to many interests.
