These books will be an integral part of my students' reading development. Many of them have not been in school since 1st grade (due to COVID) and lack a strong foundation in reading skills. These books will help me teach the following standards: RL 3.1, RL 3.10, RI 3.10, L 3.1, W 3.10. These books were intentionally chosen to be mentor texts and opportunities for students to engage with themes and characters. Students will analyze everything from sentence structure and word choice to character traits and main idea. This is the pathway to enriching my students exposure to rigorous story options.
