The food/snacks that will be provided to our students will benefit them immensely due to the fact that 100% of our students are on free or reduced lunch. After school, our student athletes do not go home because of no transportation back to school for practice or games, so they stay at school. They are always begging teachers, staff and myself for food after school because they are hungry and need energy before their practice and/or game.
I have been paying hundreds of dollars of my own money to support my student athletes but it is very expensive to feed hundreds of high school students alone.
I have spent a lot of money since the beginning of school and I also purchased furniture to provide a safe, relaxing and enjoyable room for the student-athletes before their practice/games. They hang out with me (Police Officer) in my office until practice or a game starts and of course, these athletes need to be fed. I also give snacks to students throughout the day whom either missed breakfast or lunch due to circumstances out of their control.
