Scholastic News and Science Spin are nonfiction magazines for kids that meet CCSS ELA 3.1-3.7 dealing with main ideas, key supporting details. nonfiction text features, and opinions. This magazine discusses events around the world. Headphones make it so each child can view the videos and activities individually.
When students are quarantined or home recuperating they can log into class through a Google Meet and still participate with the digital content.
At this time, we have ten sets of classroom headphones and the requested material will allow students to access digital content quietly. The lapboards will help them respond visually and remain engaged no matter what the content.
The classroom CD player gave out, so we do not listen to music much. We would like utilize classroom CD's that reinforce learning content. We also want to enjoy listening to music occasionally.
Standards Requested: RI 3.1 Ask and answer questions to demonstrate understanding of a text, referring explicitly to the text as the basis for the answers.
RI 3.2 Determine the main idea of a text; recount the key details and explain how they support the main idea.
RI 3.3 Describe the relationship between a series of historical events, scientific ideas or concepts, or steps in technical procedures in a text, using language that pertains to time, sequence, and cause/effect
