In my dance class, we focus alot on peer collaboration and the creative process behind choreography. Creating your own body of work allows for artistic expression and freedom, and allows the student to express themselves in ways they otherwise might not have been able to. In order to be able to successfully create work, we need the tools to be able to do so, starting with music. With only 2 speakers and 45 students, we do not have the ability for every group of students to be able to listen to their music, which limits the time they have to work because they have to share speakers and rotate. By having more speakers in the classroom, each group of students can successfully use the class time to achieve their projects.
DA:Cr2.HS.1I Collaborate to use
a variety of choreographic
devices and dance structures to
develop a dance that supports
an artistic intent. Articulate the
group process for making
movement choices.
DA:Cr2.HS.2I Define and apply
artistic criteria to choreograph
an original dance. Discuss how
the criteria communicate the
artistic intent.
