The materials I am requesting for my classroom will help me establish a more cohesive learning environment for my students. With technology becoming more and more accessible and important in education, I am requesting a set of 5 tablets and headphones so that a small group of students can work with various programs on the tablets daily. Keeping it in small groups allows me to sanitize materials before use by different children the following day. With literacy programs (Learning A-Z) that have options like reading to the students and mathematic programs (Dreambox) that help guide the students through fun activities while staying at their level of difficulty, my students would benefit from this screen time in the classroom tremendously. Both programs align with the NV standards and create appropriate practice for each individual student based on performance and understanding.
With the recent switch of classrooms for the students, paired with the fact I am a first year teacher, I feel as though I am lacking necessary materials (such as tablet and a class set of whiteboards) that will help enhance my students learning. More flexible seating options will also support their learning by providing fun and engaging ways to do ANYTHING!
The class set of whiteboards will be beneficial for all things writing, grammar, and spelling because each student will be able to have their own whiteboard that they can keep in their boxes (less germs being spread) and I will be able to do activities that test their brains and practice spelling, stretching of sounds, and even letter recognition. My students struggle with trusting their brains and working out problems before they seem to become "permanent" on paper and I think more activities with whiteboards will help grow their confidence with literacy. Thank you!
