Students will have their own math manipulative to use each day during math. They will store their personal math manipulatives in their book bag. Each day students will have their own manipulatives to follow along as we learn math and practice math strategies. Unifix cubes and Base 10 blocks will add the students in grasping several math concepts such as making a 10, bundling 1's, 10's, and 100's. Using the cubes and blocks to actually feel, see, and do it themselves will allow my students to better understand the concept. Fractions manipulatives will help students understand fractions with the hands on kit. They can lay the smaller fraction tiles over the larger fraction tiles to see how they fit together, using several size tiles at the same time to see how fractions work.
Hands on learning is extremely important for second grade students and COVID has taken this opportunity away from them.
