This project will follow the Nevada Academic Content Standards of Science. The science standards covered are as follows: (Forces & Interactions) 3-PS2-1, 3-PS2-2, 3-PS2-3, and 3-PS2-4; (Interdependent Relationships in Ecosystems) 3-LS2-1, 3-LS4-1, 3-LS4-3, and 3-LS4-4; (Inheritance and Variation of Traits: Life Cycles and Traits) 3-LS1-1, 3-LS3-1, 3-LS3-2, and 3-LS4-2; and (Weather and Climate) 3-ESS2-1, 3-ESS2-2, and 3-ESS3-1. The materials I placed in this project will follow along with these standards. The outcome will allow them to be more understanding and proficient of the standards.
I am looking for more STEM opportunities to give my students; it will allow them to get hands-on learning and experiences to see real world problems in class! This project and materials will provide my students with opportunities to dig deep into the state standards. I will use the materials to supplement our science curriculum. Currently, our curriculum does not have materials that match our standards or provide hands-on learning. My students mainly get science through our reading and math curriculums. I do my best to bring in STEM opportunities. I want my students to be able to see how magnets and simple machines work. I want them to discover animal traits and life cycles. I want them to fall in love with science and STEM!
