Fidget toys are a great way to encourage engaged listening and provide a subtle distraction that can allow students with certain sensory processing disorders to better maintain focus. The students will use the stress gadgets to help focus in class and be able to take them home if they need them. Most my students have ADHD and this is a way for them to fidget in a productive way. Students can use the fidget to focus while the teacher is talking to the class or showing examples on the board. Students can keep a fidget in their pocket to use when they are asked to answer a questions. Fidgets help the hands stay busy so the mind can focus at the task at hand.
