The resources provide will promote the following Nevada Academic Content Standards: W.4.1-Write opinion pieces on topics or texts, supporting a point of view with reasons and information, W.4.2-Write informative/explanatory texts to examine a topic and convey ideas and information clearly, and W.4.3-Write narratives to develop real or imagined experiences or events using effective technique, descriptive details, and clear event sequences. These writing standards will help fulfill COVID-related learning need my your class because the students are struggling to even write a constructed response let alone a five-paragraph essay to be prepared for the fourth grade SBACs. The materials I have ordered will enable the students to: make writing process folders, make color copies of graphic organizers for brainstorming, editing & revising, publishing, and making covers for their three types of writing. The highlighters is a sensory tools students use to differentiate the different components of their writing. I will also be using PBL and the materials allow for the writing to be turned into projects. This type of support will bridge the GAP that COVID has created in their proficiency skills in writing.
