My students are enrolled in a dual credit English/Composition 101/102 course where they receive both high school and college credit. They work on various writing styles they will use in college and beyond. If a student is given a choice of what to read and is given a diverse choice of books, that student's sentence fluency, grammar, and vocabulary improves. I want my students to have the tools, both for reading and writing, to become successful students in college. Being able to take college-level classes while in high school is a fabulous opportunity for students to become familiar with the rigor they will face while still in a familiar setting.
