This technology will help when working with students in small group instruction based on data. Research shows that continual feedback, goal setting and targeted instruction is key to student learning and motivation. The goal of this project is to increase students' reading abilities and sense of self. The iPad will help me track student needs and growth more efficiently as I run my groups.
After a year of distance learning, our fantastic students are back on campus and ready to learn and grow. Unfortunately, the pandemic has taken an academic and emotional toll on our students, but with help and support, we can get the kids back on track. Through the use of targeted reading instruction, conferencing with students and data collection, we can rebuild not only students' reading abilities and confidence, but also their self confidence and emotional well being.
Here are some standards that will be addressed through this project:
RF. 2.3 Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words.
RF 2.4 Read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension.
RL 2.1 Ask and answer such questions as who, what, where, when, why, and how to demonstrate understanding of key details in a text.
RL 2.5 Describe the overall structure of a story, including describing how the beginning introduces the story and the ending concludes the action.
RL 2.10 By the end of the year, read and comprehend literature, including stories and poetry, in the grades 2-3 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
