Technology has changed the face of education and students are using fewer paper assignments than before. Instead, students use the internet, google documents, integrated assignments, and other digital programs to make meaning of their learning. This change, although good for education, has raised the need for more tools. A tablet will empower me to blend digital feedback with physical assistance. I can go to a student's desk, pull up their written work on the tablet, and provide hands-on remedial instruction that they can visualize and touch in real-time rather than respond to impersonal feedback sent through online messaging.
The tablet will be an effective tool for delivering personalized instruction to my students. Together, with this new device, my students and I can address essential English classroom standards such as CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.W.11-12.2, a standard that requires students have opportunities to implement and reflect on the organization of writing, transitions, structures, and language choices.
I expect to see an improvement in student learning as a result of receiving this tablet for my students. This learning improvement is not possible without the specialized features of a tablet, especially in a one-to-one setting. A tablet is a great first step for overcoming the learning deficiencies caused by COVID-19.
