Science is a hands-on subject, but over the last COVID year, many students didn't get that opportunity. Some of the neatest aspects of Biology can only be seen with a microscope. From actually seeing how chromosomes are divided through Mitosis (HS-LS1-4), the site of photosynthesis in Elodea cells (HS-LS1-1, or seeing plasmolysis in action (HS-LS1-3) really helps students understand the world around them.
When students share these experiences we can provide rich discussions. Students can present a certain stage of mitosis that they've found in a slide, or explain the structures they can see in a cell to the class. Most students don't have access to microscopes at home, I'd like to give them every microscopic experience I can in the classroom.
