We’re using the world and map of the United States to help students discuss how they came here, where they are from and what cultures influence their families today. Each student has a unique story, many of which have loss, trauma, struggle and sacrifice.
Learning both you and your nemesis spent time in the same South American country before being accepted to the US helps students find commonality and reduce bias. We will continue building community in a school community where all students resumed daily in person education this year and are sorely out of practice relating socially to peers and resolving conflict.
