The Billinghurst Library Media Center is growing its STEAM program through a dedicated Makerspace. An iPad is needed in the Makerspace for students to use in a variety of stations including: Coding, Creating and Publishing Book Reviews through QR Codes, Accessing Augmented Reality Materials, and Maintaining the Library's Student-Run Social Media. Although Makerspace stations meet a variety of content area standards in Math, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math, the focus is on Information Literacy Standard 5.C.2: the learner constructs new knowledge as evidenced by the ability to persist through self-directed pursuits by tinkering and making.

An iPad helps students access enrichment experiences in the library they may not otherwise see in the classroom or have access to at home. Part of our Covid recovery goals is providing students with opportunities they missed during virtual and hybrid learning by giving them access to technologies and experiences at school that many cannot participate in at home.
