I have chosen STEM Robotic Building Kits to be used in the Media Center with 5th grade students. I will be working on this project with our 5th Grade Science Teacher. Before Covid, myself and other staff members were planning a makerspace to promote STEM activities, creativity and fun for our students. When we shut down for Covid, those plans came to a halt. We have been back in school full time, but there have been so many other priorities that we have not been able to engage our students in the type of STEM activities that we would like. This project would do just that for our 5th graders.
Students will work cooperatively to build a robotic project of their choice. They will work together in the Media Center on their project. They will have the opportunity to do two projects and we will have a parent night for students to exhibit their second project and share a presentation showing the building process.
This project will address the following standards:
ELA Standards
SL.5.1
SL.5.5
Engineering Standards
3-5 ETS1-1
3-5-ETS1-2.
3-5-ETS1-3.
