If last year taught us one thing, it’s that digital only curriculum does not serve all of our students in a way that allows them to achieve. These resources will allow my students to bring digital curriculum into the physical realm, while working on creative projects and assignments to demonstrate their understanding in a non-traditional way. Being able to work with their hands will aid some students in making meaning and demonstrating understanding while they read. These resources will allow us to better meet expectations of standards RL 8.1, 8.2, 8.5, 8.6, 8.7, 8.9, RI 8.1, 8.2, 8.3, 8.6, 8.7, 8.9, W 8.1, 8.2, and 8.3 by giving my students the tools they need to participate in a class that relies on a digital curriculum without being tied to their screens all day, allowing students with limited technical literacy to participate in class and maximize their learning. Colored printer paper allows for color-coding the handouts for the day to allow our special needs students to easily identify which paper they should be working on. Mechanical pencils & lead will allow me to give students the tools they need to participate when they are unable to provide their own. Post-it’s and highlighters help students master the art of annotations; while markers, colorful pens, and construction paper allow students to create posters as an artistic representation of their learning.
