I have chosen a wide range of books that will reach the needs (and desires) of all of my students, and future students as well. I have specifically chosen these books to represent the various backgrounds and cultures that make up my class. Since some of my students have not been in the actualy classroom since the beginning of Kindergarten, some have never held a book in their hand until this year. I have chosen books that not only challenge my students academically, but mentally and personally as well. While some of the books are fun reads and will help foster a love for reading, others will be used as mentor texts for our second grade reading and writing standards. I am so excited that these books will be put in the hands of my students, rather than having them read through a computer screen as they've done the past year and a half. These books will be used in my classroom this year and for years to come! The selection of books offers various reading levels and student interests that will allow each of my students to find books that they will love. I can't wait to provide my students more opportunities to read some of the greatest books ever written!
