(PE) 4.2.1 Practice health related fitness components in various physical activities.
Mental health has become an ever present issue within our schools, more increasingly since Covid, and all of its ensuing issues have affected the lives of our students.
I have placed a big focus of my PE program on mental health. My students have learned how to meditate and focus on positive thoughts. They have learned to breathe through difficult emotions and have been introduced to yoga and the benefits it can have on your mind and body.
Currently, my students are doing yoga on a hard, tiled floor, with only a rubber polyvinyl circle spot to help protect their knees and backs. They are constantly having to adjust their bodies to utilize the softness of the dot. Most yoga poses require the students to place their hands and bodies on the floor. They LOVE yoga and deserve to have a mat to learn, exercise, and relax on!!
