My students are from low-income families. Some of them come from single parent homes and are often struggling financially. Some come to school hungry or have not gotten enough to eat. For some of these students the only time they receive a good meal is at school. These snacks will help bridge the hunger gap throughout the day for these students. These snacks are the difference between a successful day of learning and a possible meltdown due to lack of nutrients. I believe that students who have all the necessities they need are more productive and learn more effectively.
