I am trying to create an engaging classroom environment for my math classes. Students will have access to supplies such as whiteboards with coordinate grids, Expo markers, scissors for activities, graph paper, colored pencils, and #2 pencils as they problem solve together. They will use mobilewhite boards for group work. I will create activities using colored cardstock.
My students enjoy being challenged and working together. When I can create scavenger hunts, escape room style puzzles, mazes, etc. with their math problems, they become more engaged. They need to be able to move around and work together. As they talk through problems with each other, they discover the concepts on their own without having to sit through a lecture.
