Maslow's Hierarchy of Needs tells us that if our most basic needs (ie. shelter, food, and belonging) are not met, we can not strive to learn, grow, or participate in satisfying our higher-level needs. By donating to this project, you will not only help to improve and increase students' ability to attend and focus, you will ultimately help to increase their academic achievement. When my students come to me to grab a snack or water, I am able to check in with them regarding classes, discipline, and/or other issues. I am able to create a bond with them that goes deeper than the usual adult/student relationship.
