I want to provide a classroom library for all of my students to access. Since 100% of the students that I teach come from low-income households, they often do not have the same access to resources that other students have.
Having a library of books to choose from in the classroom will have a huge impact on my students' ability to learn, be successful in the future, and on their social-emotional well-being.
Lack of access to books is one of the biggest contributing factors to low literacy skills and poor test scores. I want to help fix this by having books from all different categories for my students to choose from with diverse titles, authors, and stories that resemble their own. This will, hopefully, help to foster a love of reading and learning in my students that will be life-long!
