I am creating nonfiction learning centers in our school library to encourage emergent readers to further enhance student experiences and interests and guide them to make real-world connections using informational texts. Students will be able to demonstrate their understanding of complex texts through a variety of methods at each learning center by using the requested crayons and materials to utilize alternative means to express understanding.
With the nonfiction books being requested and the bins to keep them organized, we are working to close the gap caused by Covid and the lack of access to these books and information. This pertains to ELA-RI.1.10 With prompting and support, read informational texts appropriately complex for grade 1. It also scaffold to
RI.2.10 By the end of year, read and comprehend informational texts, including history/social studies, science, and technical texts, in the grades 2-3 text complexity band proficiently, with scaffolding as needed at the high end of the range.
About my class
