The resources that I am requesting will promote K-2-ETS1-1, K-2-ETS1-2, K-2-ETS1-3, and SL 2.1. These are skills that will be beneficial to use outside of the classroom.
STEM learning activities allow students to collaborate and use critical thinking skills that are so crucial to develop in elementary school.
Unfortunately, it was very challenging to develop these skills during virtual learning. I am hoping that your generous gift will help provide that experience. I know my students will love to complete these activities because it will not only engage them, but challenge them as well.
I plan to have the students complete STEM activities at least 2 times a month. I will present students with a kit and the problem they will have to solve with their group. Each person in their group will have a role (recorder, runner, facilitator, and time keeper). They will participate in the challenges and record their work/ trials on a Google Doc. Their classmate will be able to comment on each other's documents to provide their ideas and suggestions. This will help will with collaborating, developing their language skills, and reading fluency.
