Students spend a significant amount of time reading in school each and every day. However, most of that time is spent reading required texts. To promote the love of reading, and create life long readers, my class participates in 30 minutes of Book Love each day. During this time students CHOOSE what they want to read.
While I have a basic classroom library, I am in need of new books that kids are excited and motivated to read. I need to build my classroom library so that there are books that all students, with different interests, backgrounds, and reading levels, want to get their hands on. When students have books at their fingertips that they want to read they become lifelong readers.
