For our community tile mural each student will design a tile that includes the curve of 1/4 of a circle. Four tiles will make a complete circle. Each tile will be unique but still be part of the whole. Students will participate in the design process and will transfer a pencil drawing they create to their tile then will refine and finish decorating their tile with the colored underglazes. The tile will be fired and when all are finished they will be applied to the wall of our school hallway.
Students will understand that we all make up our community and our differences make us unique but are still part of the beauty of the whole. This is particularly important since the students were working remotely last year. It is a collaborative hands on project that will make the school more beautiful and empower the students.
