I am requesting resources to support students' social, emotional, and mental well-being as a result of the impacts on mental health due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The impact of school closures and distance learning is becoming more apparent in my students' behavior. There has been an increase in stress & anxiety as well as a decrease in social skills. My students need to learn and practice SEL skills related to self awareness, self management, and relationship skills. To teach these skills I am requesting new social skills curriculum, games, and supplies for a calm down corner.
These materials will help support my students' social, emotional, & mental well-being during this difficult time. We are constantly learning social emotional curriculum through various evidence-based practices in our school. The curriculum I am requesting helps students who need additional SEL instruction through small group counseling and individual short term counseling. The games assist in practicing those SEL skills in a way that is both fun & informative. The supplies for a calm down corner allow our students to practice the SEL skills they are learning by giving them the tools they need to self regulate their emotions.
