The use of organizational materials such as tubs, bins, carts, and binders/binder supplies will allow me to create a learning environment where students have easy access to learning materials and supplies. As some of my students are fairly new to the classroom environment–due to attending school virtually–I aspire to empower them in their learning environment and a simple way of doing so is by helping them be as independent in the classroom as possible. When learning materials and supplies are not readily accessible for students, it can hinder thier productivity, efficiency, and time to work. When I am working with small groups or one-on-one, it is especially important that my students are able to locate and get materials independently without interrupting the learning of others; whether it is getting an extra pencil to begin working, getting manipulatives to solve a problem, or extra sheets of scratch paper from a cubby draw. By eliminating situations like these, all students can focus on their learning! With the use of our organization materials, it will help encourage and promote independence among my students by providing a classroom that enables them to take initiative in their learning. Knowing what materials and supplies are available to them and being able to obtain them will allow them to work efficiently and effectively. Moreover, the use of all of our organization items will help extend the life and use of our materials in that it will diminish the chance of items getting lost or damaged. Additionally, I have included in my project POP educational games and manipulatives to be used at centers to further teach and retain ELA and math concepts gone over in class.
