These materials will be used in my grade level to create reading centers and help with differentiating our reading block while integrating social studies and science.
I would like to have learning materials that will excite and motivate the second graders while working on reading.
The students will see the connections between reading and learning. By reading the science texts and being able to experience science by actually using science tools at a plant and insect center will motivate. By learning about prefix and suffixes and finding them in the provided texts will educate. By working at a center with friends to read a beginning chapter book or by reading about a historical figure and sharing the information with their class will help create leaders. By reading a Science Spin magazine and completing the science experiment center will enrich all the students' learning. These learning center opportunities are what makes in-person learning valuable, and what these students have been missing while they were going to school virtually during Covid. They will, also, promote Nevada Academic Standards RF.2.3d, all RI.2.10, RL.2.10, SS.2.9, SS.2.11, 2.LS-4-1.
