What better way to embrace a new language through the wonderful exploration of literature. Books will allow my students to have something tangible that they can reference time and time again. Books provide a written language that will allow my students to build vocabulary, reference prior knowledge, engage in meaningful discussions, identify cultural similarities and differences and provide visuals to define and enrich the meaning of words.
My students will now have opportunities to have a voice, broaden their imaginations and make connections with the English language through reading. With this gift of reading students will be able to visually see how letters make words, words make sentences, sentences make paragraphs and paragraphs make books. Students will read at school, engage in discussion, complete related activities and set individual goals to become fluent readers. What's wonderful is that these books will also serve as a school to home connector allowing students to read at school and share the joy of reading at home with family. Books will make the difference in reading and writing success for my students.
