Part of my reading class allows for my students to choose books that they love and want to read. We do this for between 20-30 minutes a day. Being back IN the classroom, I'm noticing the kids really want to read! It surely makes my teacher heart swell with joy!
We know that reading independently daily increases vocabulary, background knowledge, and overall comprehension skills. My students are behind because of the pandemic. Therefore, we must read, read, and read some more to build off skills taught in class. I want to make my library more diverse to include characters they can relate to. I also know that they love graphic novels. Therefore, I'm trying to get as many books in their hands as I can. This set would be a great start to my dream!
