My students are motivated and working hard to be the best readers and learners they can be. Currently, I have students that set a goal to be able to read a chapter book by the end of the year. They are not there yet, but by using these headphones and audio books, they will be able to check out chapter books and follow along so they can be reading text similar to their same aged peers. This will not only help to reach their goal, it will also increase their reading fluency and build vocabulary from listening to these books.
Students also need to be able to recognize what their body needs so that they can listen and attend to instruction. All students learn differently and some students need additional movement to attend to lessons and complete independent work. Students in my room are working on recognizing what their body clues are and what they need to do when they are dysregulated or distracted. These chairs will allow students to use their classroom seats and still seek the movement they need to focus and attend.
