My 2nd-grade students all have Chromebooks to use in the classroom. At this age, the kids are learning how to do drag and drop activities. Most of the time these activities are difficult to do on a trackpad. I also think it is good for students to learn how to use the right and left click on a mouse and it is easier for their little hand.
Using a mouse will also help them with the range of movement on the computer screen.
Also, it is very important for students to learn how to properly care for their chrome book and make sure it gets charged every evening. They get very excited when we use them in class. A charging station would help keep them organized and make sure that my students have a quick transition and know where to get their chrome book and properly store it.
My students are using their computers to work on all NVACS. Especially for social studies and health. I have many drag-and-drop activities. For ex: SS.2.11 students watch videos is influential people that we discussed and show what they learned. In health, H.2.2.1 students can demonstrate the body systems and how they work.
